Tempeh BLT Sandwich
Tempeh pronounced tĕm’ pā’ is made from fermented soybeans. It is a great substitute for bacon and packed with plant-based protein. Most other recipes use liquid smoke to make the tempeh bacon, but why substitute one unhealthy ingredient with another? This tempeh bacon is tasty without it.
What You Need:
8 oz Original Tempeh
2 T Organic Coconut Aminos
1.5 t Olive Oil
1 T Maple Syrup
1/2 t Garlic Powder
1/2 t Paprika
1/4 t Ground Pepper
Marinade
Combine above ingredients in a mixing bowl and whisk well.
Cut tempeh lengthwise
Marinate
Pour marinade over tempeh strips. Evenly spread the marinade over the tempeh. Flip tempeh strips over and allow them to soak in the marinade for 15 minutes.
Bake
Transfer tempeh to another pan and bake for 20 minutes. Flip tempeh over in the middle of baking
(~10 minutes).
Add fixings
Slice some bread, wash and cut the tomato and lettuce, and build your sandwich.
